每一次与西人朋友聊天，说到我，一个生长在中国长江边的女子，飘洋过海，移民澳大利亚；谈到我作为澳大利亚新移民，在这块土地上学习、工作、生活的体会；谈到这里的历史文化、风土人情、矿产资源、骑在羊背上的国家，这里不同国家的移民，不同宗教信仰、不同肤色、形形色色的人们给我的丰富感受；澳洲被视为“幸运之国”，她的公民所享受的生活水平被称为世界最佳。澳洲的清新空气，医疗服务，教育系统，生活方式，社会福利和民主制度，以及多元文化，总是无法用美丽的英语表达出来。

　　Every time when I chat with my foreign friends about myself - a girl born somewhere by the Yangtze River in China who swept the seas to Australia, about my experience as a new immigrant to Australia studying, working and living in this land, about Australian culture and local customs, its mineral resources and its world known name - a country on the back of sheep, about what I feel to this “Country of Luck” where different origins, religions, colors and classes are living together happily and enjoying the best welfare in the world, about Australian fresh air, medial service system, education system, living style, social welfare and democratic system as well as its diversified culture, I always found difficult to express these in English.

　　著名的艾尔斯岩，它站着是山，卧着是船，活着是燃烧的生命。走近它，我为之震撼，还有令人称奇的波浪岩、悉尼歌剧院，却不知道该用怎样的英语表述？Ayers Rock is famous, it is a mountain when standing out, a boat when lying down and a living creature because it is always burning. Approaching it, I was shocked; moreover I was shocked by the amazing wave rock, Sydney Opera House, but I do not know how to say good words about these in English.

　　澳大利亚阳光灿烂，每时每刻都在变幻的光与影，无法形容的色彩，以及那苍茫的广阔世界，寂静却不悲凉，交织而成仙境一般的景象。我为之感动，却无法用英语来表达。

　　Australia is a country with plenty of sunshine. I feel its changing light and shade and color as well as its open wide field, quiet but not alone, shaping a fairyland in my heart. I was shocked by these but I do not know how to express what I feel in English.

　　每年的1月26日，澳洲国庆节，许多新移民选择在这一特殊日子成为澳洲公民。站在迎风飘扬的澳大利亚深蓝的米字星条旗下、唱着澳大利亚的国歌、手持澳大利亚公民证书，又该用怎样的英语表述？

　　On January 26 the Australian National Day every year, many new immigrants chose this special day as their first day being the citizen of Australia through a ceremony standing under the Australian national flag and singing Australian national anthem with Australian Citizenship Certificate in hand. I don’t know how to express what I feel at that moment in English.

　　有时候，心中的火焰熄灭了。但是，当遇到某个人，某件事，或走到某个地方，某个国家它又会再次燃烧起来。于是下决心把记录一个长江女儿在澳大利亚生活的一些文章译成英文书。希望在这个世界上，让更多的西人朋友了解我的爱、我的美丽，读那些从我心中流淌出来的文字。

　　Sometimes my passion stops somewhere but sometimes it is reactivated when I meet someone, something or travel to somewhere and some countries. For that reason, I decided to translate my book “Across the Sea” – a book recording a girl from the Yangtze River living stories in Australia into English. I hope my love and beauty and my articles can be shared by more foreign friends.

　　It is today I need to present my thanks to a place where my passion is reactivated, it is Australia.
